What is the song "Horseshoes and Handgrenades" about?

There was someone on Songmeanings.com who said the song is about the character Christian's death but I've also heard it's about Gloria leaving Christian and him fighting to win her back… but it also could possibly be from Gloria's point of view because the singer say G-L-O-R-I-A at the end of the song… I don't get it!
