Questions about hiding a septum piercing?

Next weekend im going to get my septum pierced but i need to hide it from my mom and my dads gonna take me to do it (i know not a good idea to do it behind her back but its my choice). If i get a small black horseshoe ring and i flip it up can it be seen from the sides at all? and i also have my nostril pierced will that get in the way? oh and also how easily does it fall down and can i flip it up the day i get it?
