What's better a hoop or a horseshoe for cartilage piercing?

I want to know which one is easier to clean, but the horseshoe is titanium and the hoop is 316L surgical steel. but I wear fake earring all the time and I never had an allergic reaction to nickiel. But it the cartilage more sensitive. Moreover this is the first time I am gonna remove my piercing. what should I do?
