Isn't it smarter to hang iron horseshoes over your door JUST IN CASE the wee folk exist?

Do you really want to take the chance of your children being stolen from their cribs and replaced with faerie changelings? Obviously hanging iron fixtures around your doors and windows to ward off the wee folk is the only logical choice.
